San Diego CSS, SEO, Making Money in Blogging Workshop

Actually I am just thinking about setting up this workshop in San Diego. This is not final yet. I go home to the Philippines every year and I always have something going on there when I go back. Like the CSS, PHP, AJAX Workshop and the CSS and WordPress Plugin Development, and the SEO for Megasites at the Search Engine Marketing Conference. Might as well do the same while in San Diego.

After getting so many IM message from other people asking different questions, maybe it is time to help you out a lot more further with a more complete and in-depth learning experience that will really make a difference in your work. A quick workshop to get you started but not too long with theoretical concepts and lectures that can be boring. Let’s make it all hands-on learning by example.

Playing Around with ZenPhoto, iFoto and Plogger

After seeing a bunch of photos on my hard drive, most of which I planned to post online, but I never seemed to be able to since 2004 as I have been just busy. I have been using ZenPhoto for some time on other websites and has tried iFoto and Plogger. I did not do a real good comparison of the three but I just did ZenPhoto for a client before and I tried installing iFoto for personal testing which I never did again. And I just tried Plogger for photos uploaded by my sister-in-law and I found it nice but did not take the time to create some good template for it.

San Diego FireStorm October 2007

It’s now Day two of the fire storm in San Diego. We spent the night at Mira Mesa at Uncle Totoy and Auntie Linda’s place. Thank you very much for accommodating us all including two noisy kids that ran all over the place. Added challenges was we had my Sis-in-law’s new born 1 month premature baby Anica with us whom we picked up at Sharp Mary Birth Hospital.

I tried going to work on Tuesday, day 3 of the wild fire but my wife and in-laws needed me for several important errands going back and forth to the pharmacy getting their medicines. With no computer to use and my phone, a Palm 750 mysteriously kept rebooting all day, I was offline most of the day.

San Diego Wild Fires October 2007

Just an update for friends and family. If your not aware, probably just watch CNN or FoxNews or BBCNews and check the San Diego Fire. Starting last Sunday, there we big fires in Southern California. Some in LA, Orange County and San Diego.

Fire was due to low humidity causing super dry air with high temperature and high speed winds reaching 65MPH. Heat helps burn more. Wind gives more oxygen for combustion and blows it in directions that make it spread more and super dry conditions makes the fire keep going on.

My Only Free Time Not Working

Monday, October 8, 2007 was one of my free days so I made the most out of it. I woke up at 10:00am and needed to run real quick to the mall to the currency exchange since I had no money to spend. I was going to have my phone fixed but did not have the time to, nor did I have time to get a new SIM card to be able to coordinate with my my daughter who I was going to visit at school. Anyway, I just went there and gave all the things I needed to give during her lunch break and she introduced me to all her friends. Show her the video of her little sister and got her video greetings as well.

Back Home in the Paradise Philippines

When I was at the Park and Ride parking lot at Mira Mesa, San Diego, I was with my wife and daughters and with my Sis-in-law and nephew as we waited for the shuttle bus to arrive. When it came Jamie started to cry knowing that I will be away for a week.

Going back the old-fashioned way

While on the plane, heading to Paradise Philippines, I was preparing my presentation for the SEMCon 2007, using my wife’s laptop since mine did not have the latest software and I barely had time updating mine as I was preparing to leave. On the plane, the laptop died since it was not fully charged. So I then decided to organize my thoughts on my cellphone running Windows Mobile, but it too was nearly drained and I needed what ever charge it may have for emergency calls once I land in Manila. So I prepared the outline of my presentation with a pen and paper.

Ok, I’m Married! Now where is that family quality time?

I have always introduced my wife as my wife since 2002. But technically, we were not really married yet since there were several legal matters that needed to get ironed out then. And during this period, I left for the US in 2004 since my work in the Philippines was not really supporting my family well. And I was away from my family for long periods and would go home every 6 months or so to be with them again in the Philippines. Getting vacations in my jobs are usually not permitted within certain time frames but I used to go back during certain IT events where I am invited and I go on vacation without pay. Although plane tickets are quite expensive, and considering that I even get no salary for two weeks work, I am way broke and sometimes with over due bills after my vacation but nothing beats being with them again. 6 months was too long, even 1 week was too long and some of my friends just seem so puzzled asking me how do I do it? I myself don’t know how I did but I just kept myself preoccupied with work so I don’t feel the loneliness.
