When I was at the Park and Ride parking lot at Mira Mesa, San Diego, I was with my wife and daughters and with my Sis-in-law and nephew as we waited for the shuttle bus to arrive. When it came Jamie started to cry knowing that I will be away for a week.
Going back the old-fashioned way
While on the plane, heading to Paradise Philippines, I was preparing my presentation for the SEMCon 2007, using my wife’s laptop since mine did not have the latest software and I barely had time updating mine as I was preparing to leave. On the plane, the laptop died since it was not fully charged. So I then decided to organize my thoughts on my cellphone running Windows Mobile, but it too was nearly drained and I needed what ever charge it may have for emergency calls once I land in Manila. So I prepared the outline of my presentation with a pen and paper.
Plane Entertainment
On the plane, I was able to watch Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard which was good since I haven’t watch it yet. I then fell asleep and woke up seeing Funtastic 4, Rise of the Silver Surfer. Unfortunately it was by the end of the movie and since I was awake, I just watched the next movie, Ang Cute ng Ina Mo.
Houston Manila, we have a problem
As the plane landed, I turned on my roaming phone and it did not work – no signal. I then turned on my local Smart SIM card loaded phone – No load, cannot send. I bought some credits to load up P300 and it would not load. I had no cellphone working. So I was not able to communicate with my bro-in-law Harry who was going to pick me up. So I just decided to go out and find him. Good thing he stood in a well lighted place where he was strikingly in contrast with the surroundings so I did not find it difficult to find him.
At Home, Pacquiao Knocked Me Out
I got home in the morning, ate breakfast Harry bought. Call up Louie for him to call up my Mom and figure out what time she is going to church so I could surprise her there. Then Louie came with a Lechon Manok for brunch. So I ate again. As I was still super sleepy, I decided not to sleep since I wanted to watch the fight of Manny Pacquiao and Jose Antonio Barrera. While going through the pre-fights I was working on my PowerPoint presentation but at a very slow rate since I was sleepy. I was also going through a battle staying awake in every commercial of the Manny Pacquiao fight. After every commercial seemed harder to stay awake. And at the 11 round, I no longer remember what happened. I fell a sleep before the 12th round. Manny Pacquiao has knocked me out.
Woke up at 6pm and ran to church
My Mom was at church at 6:15pm so when I woke up, I went straight to the church and I surprised her there and surprised my Sis Helene and Bro-in-law Rene as well. We then went to the family home, ate dinner, chatted a bit and I decided to go back home so I can work a bit on the computer. And that ends my whole day today.
