All of us get these spam calls on the phone. And I normally just decline any kind of offer since I am aware of their marketing tactics. It is simple, they normally offer something for free, you use it and if you do not cancel within some number of days, you will be charged automtically.

It does seem that most of these companies make their money from people that forget to cancel and they get charged and eventually will cancel. This does nto sound like a nice long term source of revenue for the company since I believe a majority of people will cancel their subscriptions right away. But they do this in the numbers, just keep on calling and getting more and more people sign up. Even if  most will cancel, they will still make a good significant amount of money.

I receive a call from Super Savings / Unicare Auto Club

The call I received was not from  a toll free number. It was from a local number: (310) 599-5774. Now that the call is over, I searched online for information on this number and I found out that this number has been used from various offers.

• A Free Pizaa
• Offers in Debt Settlement/Refinance/Consolidation starting by saying they have $6,000 in debt and press 1 to continue.
• Consumer Rewards with som free cash of $100
• $300 Gift Card for Walmart

In my case it was a Gas Card offer with $200 worth of Gas. In todays economy, I was a sucker for the offer. Took a shot and will just make a point I unsubscribe and cancel these services right away and I get to keep the gas card.

During the call, the telemarketer was speaking very fast, so fast that you can barely understand everything. Works similar to the small fine print you see on paper documentation.

But one thing I made a point in doing was interupting in the call and clearing up the numbers and services and company names the operator was telling me. So it does seem I will receive this gas card(s),  but in the process you are being signed up on multiple services. If I took down my notes well, it seems I was signed up for:

1. Super Savings Club – I should cancel within 7 days by calling 866-682-7658
2. Unicare Auto Club – I should cancel within 7 days by calling 866-832-4286
3. Vanguard – I should cancel within 7 days by calling 866-684-3931
4. National Union – Will not be signed up, but I was told I will receive a call from them for another offer within the next 30 days.

It was clear that I was told within 7 days upon receipt of the mail so I verified how does the letter look like and what is the company on the envelope. I was told it is Red and White and is large would contain a lot of coupons and will have Super Savings and Unicare.

So after the call, as my wife advise, might as well call up the numbers to be sure they exist. I called up and it was beyond office hour and a recorded message said I can call during office hours, which is Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm eastern time. The funny thing is I called 3 different numbers and yet the recorded message was exactly the same. Exactly the same voice, exactly the same message.

Ok on every search of these numbers, all I get is negative stuff, that this is a scam. And it seems the 310-599-5774 caller has various identities online.

  As reported by an independent researcher, the number is shared between Intercon Corp in Compton CA 90221-2140 and is shared between standard telephone line and paging.
  From public records, the number is registered to Digitcom Sevices, Inc. filed with the state on July 18, 1995 with filing number 01923292. The company name was changes on February 23, 1999 to DSI Technology, Inc. And again in June 8, 2000 to Wildgate Wireless, Inc.

So let’s see what happens in the next few days, once I get those gas cards, it mission terminate all services. If I get no gas cards, I’ll call up my credit card company and cancel the card.

I just went to the doctors today due to some next pain, mainly the back of my neck, my nape. Somewhere on the rigth side that has been occuring for 1 week already.

I went to the doctor since it was already a week of pain and might be something more serious and my suspected problems were:

• Something related to spine alignment. Pinched nerves due to vertebral subluxations. Can be due to improper posture, non-ergonomic work settings.
• Stress, lack of sleep, related. Just failure due to no rest. Resistance to illnesses are going down, or…
• Blood pressure related. Heart issues, etc.

After going to the doctors today, they did their deductive process of questioning. From previous physical activity, any recent accidents, sudden or gradual appearance of pain and other questions until they decided to give me an Xray. Read the rest of this entry �

Ever since I was a kid, my parents slept late at night. Which made it become my habit as well. And at the school where I studied in grade school, the top section always had classes in the afternoon so I was not required to wake up early. Since everyone at home seemed to sleep late, it became my habit too and even worse, as I stated growing up, I even slept more late, most of the time early morning. I just seem to be more productive during this time of the day. So most of the time I get less than 8 hours of sleep. Today, the same situation is true. I sleep less everyday, go to work, then work at home, then sleep late and wake up early.

But every Saturday, I go through this hybernation period. I sleep almost all throughout the day. I supposed to go pingpong with Mishon today, and bring a data DVD to Jimmy. But I was out cold in my hybernation period. I woke up at 5pm and here I am again, facing the computer and needs to finish a bunch or work. Sometimes, the work is so varied across several websites keeping focus on one gives me a hard time. Right now, I will focus on a proposal for some company in the Philippines for design and development. Then I know I have to do something for Seda. OMG, this is long over due. I will email Seda once I am done with the proposal.

Most of the time I work in front of the computer and after work, once I get home, I work again at home. And again in front of the computer. I can say I see the computer monitor more often than the TV screen. A few years back, I remember my room where I had a 35″ TV with cable TV and worked at the same time. Even if I do not pay full attention to the TV, once I hear something that catches my attention, I pause for a while and watch what I heard, and goes back working. And the TV is always left on any of the 3 channels: TechTV (Became G4:TechTV and today is G4TV), National Geographic and Discovery Channel.

Now with my situation in the US, I have no TV in my room and I have no plans of buying one in the near future. There is a TV in the living room, but I need work to be done so I just skip the TV all together. Although I have an external USB TV box, my other PC is busted right now, and I do not want to run my work and my TV on the same PC since the software just consumes too much resources.

But recently, I just learned about the Free Cable TV streaming online. So when I am working, I can run this software that streams Cable TV through my Internet connection for free. Although it is another program running on my desktop, it does not use much resources and does not do any observable slow down to my computer.

I joined an SEO contest, and I am just barely reaching page 1. The contest ends on Sept. 30 and I think I just need the September Google dance and I will be back on page 1. My cache is not updating on Google even is Googlebot keeps passing by. More details about the Isulong SEOph contest here.

Owning a school or any kind of training center needs chairs and tables and a whole set of furniture you usually do not find in your home furniture store. If you own a training business and needs these types of chairs or tables, they can actually all be found online. I was helping out a friend of mine look for school furniture for his school which was a school for learning English for foreigners in the US. And by helping him out, I found BizChair.com School Furniture. This shop really has a wide array of furniture for schools, and offices. It seems to be more comprehensive than other furniture shops that concentrate on home furniture only. After finding their site, my friend like it right away and decided to get all their future school furniture from them.

I have been using Google Maps and Google Earth ever since they came out I think. Images of places in the Philippines were still low resolution. But more and more higher resolution photos are coming out. And I just had a nice time “flying” over home while I am away from home.

Pacman vs Larios

I watched Manny Pacquiao vs. Oscar Larios, and paid $30 bucks also just like Seoph Martinez. It was a non-stop continuous fight and Pacman seemed to be a smarter fighter. I always liked his fake right jab to left straight, then sidestep to the leftside of the opponent and go around him. He did at a lot of times.

Isulong SEOPh Contest

The SEO Contest I joined has been keeping me busy, I think too busy that I just do not want to look at it right now. Because once I do, I spend my whole time on it. And I should be worried by now since my entry has been going up and down the SERPs, right now it went back down to page 3. And my brief moments on page 1 were really too brief and too many people are doing this contest, maybe full time. Pretty hard to catch up. Although I have a lot of ideas that can be done, I really don’t have much time to do it. It is very tempting to work on an Isulong SEOPh SEO Contest entry, but there is really a lot of work to be done.

Work

Aside from business, yes I still do have a day job. I resigned from Einstein Industries and has been working with Geary Interactive. I started June 22 at Geary. After working some extra hours for a rush project, I was able to receive a $100 Gift Card for Best Buy and I have complained before about a credit card before and I just paid everything due to them and closed my account there. They sent me another letter to reopen the account that included a Best Buy $25 Gift Card. So I had $125 to spend on Best Buy, and after deciding what I wanted to buy… I decided to get a Hard Disk.

In Sept 2005, a bad lightning storm hit San Diego. I burned several of my stuff, phone wiring, and some computer parts. My PC was no longer bootable. The hard disk wont boot, and could not install Windows over it either. But somehow, the data could still be read as a slave drive. It was a 120GB drive and I planned to back it all up and reformat it and reinstall everything again. It’s just a long time consuming task to do that I never done since Sept, 2005 and has been working off my laptop every since. But since I spent the $125 on a new hard disk, I got a 250GB SATA 7200RPM 16MB cache drive, and it was more expensive than $125, but I just needed to add $47.39. It is my first 250GB drive, my first SATA drive since I always used EIDE for a long time. My first 7200RPM drive and all I used before were 5400 RPM and my first 16MB cache hard drive. So I expect a lot more speed in my desktop, but I still have to put everything together and installl everything.

Business

Business is cool. I need to streamline a lot of processes, and backorder jobs are catching up on us. I have yet found the perfect project management system. And making my own consumes so much time. And right now I am 100% convinced I am willing to pay someone to work on it than me spend even more hours working on it. Whatever I invest in this system will do better in my business processes and make the production, and account processes streamlined and make life easier and will help me accomodate more sales. I believe I am learning so much right now, so much that is greater than what i can do alone. Both on the technical side on improving my craft, SEO and SEM, marketing, sales, business management and it is just making me realize, I cannot do all of this sh*t. I cannot afford all the employees as well at the moment. Thus I will just invest in automating everything that can be automated, and will outsource the tools I need to be created as well if needed since the more this gets delayed, the worse it gets.

I have just started in the monetization of websites last January this year and so far it is earning small, but at least growing at a slow stable rate. I do not care how small income is from passive income. Anything that is passive income to me is good. I kind of like small passive income than high paying but very time consuming projects. Giving up sleep and using so much time is not good. I’m getting old, my family is not here yet, my daughters are growing up.

Family

I got to go to the NVC this month, and file some paper work for my family to get here. I received soem paper work already from my wife and I have to start filing stuff and paying stuff as well. I got to schedule one appointment with the NVC. I miss everyone back home.
